Sterling Heights is launching a new $10 million indoor pickleball facility, aiming to transform local recreation on Van Dyke Avenue near 15 Mile Road.

The city council has greenlit the purchase and renovation of a 37,000-square-foot space, funded by the Pathway to Play and Preservation millage passed in November 2024.

The planned center will feature nine official pickleball courts, six tournament-ready table tennis courts, flexible gathering spaces, a café, dedicated meeting rooms, locker rooms, a zen room, and a nursing mothers’ suite.

Parks and Recreation Director Kyle Langlois sees this as a chance to provide a premier gathering space focused on accessibility and sustainability.

Set to open in July 2026, residents can enjoy free drop-in play, with affordable programs and rentals offering low-cost alternatives to private clubs.

A community listening session helped shape the project's amenities, reflecting Sterling Heights' commitment to wellness, inclusion, and its 2040 vision.
