Trenton, Michigan – The 15th annual Victory Day brought a powerful sense of unity to Downriver as high school football players teamed up with children with disabilities for an inspiring game day experience.
Founded by Aaron Segedi, a dedicated Trenton teacher and cancer survivor, the event has blossomed into a symbol of empowerment and inclusion across the nation.
This year, fourteen Downriver high school teams united on the field, creating a festive, supportive atmosphere reminiscent of classic football Saturdays.
Seventy children from the Metro Detroit area took part, each cheered on by marching bands, enthusiastic crowds, and the encouragement of their athlete partners.
With every touchdown and play, participants celebrated achievement and pure joy, reminding the community of the lasting impact of sports.

Detroit will soon welcome an immersive exhibition honoring the genius of Leonardo da Vinci at the Michigan Science Center.
From October 11, 2025, to January 4, 2026, "Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion" will bring over 40 full-scale, working models of da Vinci’s inventions crafted by artisans in Florence.
Visitors can interact with lifelike replicas of da Vinci’s helicopter, glider, armored tank, and more, all based on his Renaissance-era sketches and constructed using period techniques.
The exhibition unfolds across four themed zones—air, water, land, and fire—each designed to let guests ignite gears, pull levers, and discover first-hand how da Vinci envisioned modern technology.

In a moving ceremony at DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital, Detroit’s first responders were honored for their dedication to saving lives before patients even reach the ER.
These frontline heroes consistently display exceptional skill in the face of emergencies, stabilizing patients swiftly and offering crucial comfort to families in distress.
One standout incident showcased their expertise: a patient was stabilized within just five minutes of arrival, highlighting their rapid response.
In another instance, responders used CPR and the Lucas device to revive unresponsive patients, directly helping to achieve lifesaving recoveries.
Perhaps most inspiring was the story of a pregnant woman whose life—and her premature baby’s—were saved after cardiac arrest; that child, born at less than one pound, now thrives at five pounds.
Detroit hospital leaders and Dr. Robert Dunne praised these responders as vital pillars who strengthen the city by meeting emergencies with skill and compassion. Read More... |
