Detroit's Youmacon Celebrates 20 Years of Anime and Cosplay |
A Milestone Event for Fans and Cosplayers at Huntington Place |
Detroit's premier anime and cosplay convention, Youmacon, is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary from October 30 to November 2, 2025, at Huntington Place.
Since its inception in 2005, Youmacon has grown into a vibrant festival that honors Japanese animation, gaming, and pop culture.
This year's event promises an array of activities, including celebrity panels, live performances, gaming tournaments, and an expansive vendor marketplace.
A highlight of the convention is the appearance of stars from Netflix's "K-Pop Demon Hunters": May Hong ("Mira"), Danny Chung ("Baby Saja"), and Alan Lee ("Mystery Saja").
Fans will have the opportunity to meet these actors, hear behind-the-scenes stories, and participate in autograph sessions.
Adding to the excitement, the Japanese pop-metal trio BABYBEARD will perform live, bringing their unique blend of vocals and metal energy to Detroit.
Cosplay remains a central feature of Youmacon.
Attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite characters, with numerous contests and photo opportunities available.
For those interested in competing, registration details can be found on the official Youmacon website.
Gamers will find over 90 scheduled tabletop and board games, including popular titles like Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder.
The convention also boasts one of the Midwest's largest free board game libraries, ensuring entertainment for both seasoned players and newcomers.
The Marketplace Hall serves as the heart of Youmacon, featuring a vast array of merchandise, collectibles, and artwork.
Attendees can meet industry guests and explore unique items throughout the weekend.
In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Youmacon introduces Youma Youth, a program designed for younger attendees and families.
Located in room 320, Youma Youth offers creative workshops, Halloween-themed activities, a youth cosplay showcase, and special events like carnival games and a family-friendly movie night.
Event hours are as follows:
Thursday, October 30: 5 p.m. â 9 p.m.
Friday, October 31: 10 a.m. â 9 p.m.
Saturday, November 1: 10 a.m. â 9 p.m.
Sunday, November 2: 10 a.m. â 4 p.m.
Tickets start at $75 and are available for purchase on the official Youmacon website.
As Youmacon marks two decades of celebrating anime and cosplay culture, this year's event promises to be a memorable experience for fans old and new.
