Midtown Welcomes Detroit's First Vegan Cinnamon Roll Bakery

313 Cinnamon Rolls Brings Plant-Based Sweetness to the Heart of the City

A delightful new aroma is wafting through Midtown Detroit, thanks to the recent opening of 313 Cinnamon Rolls at 119 Garfield St., Suite 200. This innovative bakery, nestled within The Freelon at Sugar Hill building, proudly holds the title of the city's first entirely vegan cinnamon roll shop.

The brainchild of Brandy Jackson, a dedicated Eastside Detroiter, 313 Cinnamon Rolls was born from her personal journey into plant-based eating. "I started 313 Cinnamon Rolls because I really missed a sweet treat when I started my vegan lifestyle journey," Jackson shared. Her passion has transformed into a haven for those seeking indulgent, animal-free confections.

Each day, patrons can choose from a rotating selection of twelve flavors, selected from an impressive repertoire of thirty options. Favorites include "The Trad" with classic vanilla icing, "The OG" featuring lemon icing, and the unique "What's Up Doc?!" inspired by carrot cake. Every component, from dough to topping, is meticulously crafted without animal products, ensuring a guilt-free indulgence for all.

The term "Cinntique"—a fusion of "cinnamon roll" and "boutique"—captures the essence of Jackson's vision. "Midtown is just a vibe! I've always had my eye on Midtown for a location for the Cinntique," she expressed. The shop's ambiance reflects the vibrant and diverse spirit of the neighborhood.

Beyond serving delectable treats, 313 Cinnamon Rolls is committed to fostering community connections. Every fourth Saturday, the bakery hosts Cinny B's Marketplace, providing a platform for four small businesses to showcase their products. Additionally, Saturday afternoons feature pop-ups by local vegan food vendors, enriching Detroit's plant-based culinary scene.

"I have this beautiful space and I want to share it," Jackson stated. "Paying it forward is top tier to me. There have been many times in my journey that someone gave me a platform, and I want to do the same for others."

The bakery operates Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Sundays reserved for rest. Convenient free parking is available on the ground level of the attached parking structure. The main entrance faces John R Street, directly across from the VA Hospital's main entrance.

As Detroit continues to embrace diverse culinary ventures, 313 Cinnamon Rolls stands out as a beacon for both vegan enthusiasts and those simply seeking a sweet, plant-based delight.
