On Saturday, September 20, 2025, the Berman Center for Animal Care in Westland buzzed with excitement as the third annual Meet Your Best Friend at the Shelter event unfolded.
In partnership with the Mike Morse Law Firm, this heartwarming gathering brought together multiple animal welfare organizations, including Birmingham Dog Rescue, Bottle Babies Rescue, Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control, Lincoln Park Animal Shelter, and Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit.
Over 100 animals eagerly awaited the chance to find their forever homes.
Marisa Ruby of Birmingham Dog Rescue shared her enthusiasm: "It's truly inspiring to witness so many people come together to support these dogs in need and to see the community recognize the importance of adoption."
Among the many success stories was the Brown family from Detroit, who found their perfect match in a dog named Precious.
Clifford Brown recounted, "We set out this morning with the intention of adopting a dog."
His wife, Terria, added, "I couldn't resist her. I knew I had to have her."
Since its inception, the Meet Your Best Friend events have facilitated nearly 1,000 adoptions, bringing joy to countless families and pets alike.
Doug Plant, Chief Operating Officer at Michigan Humane, expressed his excitement: "It's incredibly rewarding to see these animals find loving families. It's a testament to the community's commitment to animal welfare."
