Fall Back Reminder: What You Need to Know About Tonight’s Time Shift |
Michigan residents prepare to set clocks back as Daylight Saving Time ends |
As the crisp autumn air settles over Michigan, it's time to prepare for the annual ritual of setting our clocks back.
At 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, Daylight Saving Time concludes, marking the return to standard time.
This change grants us an extra hour of sleep and ushers in earlier sunrises and sunsets.
To stay on schedule, remember to set your manual clocks back one hour before heading to bed tonight, November 1.
Digital devices typically adjust automatically, but it's wise to double-check.
Fire safety officials also recommend using this time to test and replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, ensuring your home remains safe as we enter the colder months.
With the time shift, sunrise and sunset times will adjust accordingly.
For example, in Detroit, sunrise will occur at 7:07 a.m., and sunset at 5:24 p.m.
In Grand Rapids, expect sunrise at 7:18 a.m. and sunset at 5:35 p.m.
These earlier evenings signal the approach of winter and the holiday season.
Looking ahead, Daylight Saving Time will resume on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when we'll set our clocks forward by one hour.
Until then, enjoy the extra hour of rest and the cozy evenings that come with standard time. |
