Ready to Explore Da Vinci’s Genius? The Largest Hands-On Exhibition Lands in Detroit |
Experience Leonardo da Vinci's inventions firsthand at the Michigan Science Center this fall. |
Detroit is set to host an extraordinary exhibition showcasing the brilliance of Leonardo da Vinci, the quintessential Renaissance man.
Beginning October 11, 2025, the Michigan Science Center will present "Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion," featuring over 40 full-scale, operational models of da Vinci's innovative designs.
Visitors will have the unique opportunity to interact with life-size replicas of da Vinci's visionary creations, including a helicopter, glider, armored tank, and bicycle.
These machines, constructed by skilled artisans in Florence, Italy, are based on da Vinci's original sketches and utilize materials and techniques from the Renaissance era.
Dr. Christian Greer, President & CEO of the Michigan Science Center, emphasized the immersive nature of the exhibition: "This isn't just an exhibition; it's truly an experience. Guests get to step into a full-scale mechanical playground featuring 40 of his inventions and learn how he imagined future technology by cranking gears, pulling levers, and setting his ideas in motion."
The exhibition is organized into four thematic sections—air, water, land, and fire—reflecting the elements that fascinated da Vinci.
Each section offers hands-on experiences that bring his concepts to life, allowing visitors to engage directly with the mechanisms and understand the principles behind them.
"Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion" will be open from October 11, 2025, through January 4, 2026.
