Erebus Haunted Attraction: Mastering the Art of Fear in Pontiac, Michigan

Inside the rigorous training that transforms actors into terrifying performers

In the heart of Pontiac, Michigan, Erebus Haunted Attraction has been perfecting the craft of fear for over 25 years.

Each Halloween season, this four-story haunted house immerses visitors in a world of horror, thanks to its dedicated actors trained at the renowned "Scare School."

At Scare School, performers delve into the psychology of fear, mastering techniques from zombie shuffles to demonic shrieks.

Operations manager Zac Terebus emphasizes, "Fear is not an accident. Fear is an art."

Actors like Alan Tucker, who portrays a bloodthirsty clown, find the experience therapeutic and fulfilling.

To gauge their success, Erebus maintains a "Wimp Out Score Board," tallying visitors who flee or experience extreme reactions.

With over 10,000 walkouts and more than 1,200 physical responses recorded, the attraction's impact is undeniable.

For those seeking an intense and authentic scare, Erebus Haunted Attraction stands as a testament to the artful mastery of fear.
