All Aboard! The CPKC Holiday Train Returns to Metro Detroit Nov. 22

The festive train brings holiday cheer and supports local food banks as it passes through the region.

The CPKC Holiday Train is set to make its annual journey through Metro Detroit on the evening of Saturday, November 22, 2025, continuing a cherished tradition that combines festive entertainment with community support.

After a scheduled stop in Windsor, Ontario, from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the CPKC Yard located at Erie Street West and Janette Avenue, the brightly lit train will cross into the United States, passing through Southwest Detroit and continuing its route through Allen Park, Taylor, and Romulus before heading southwest through Milan and Adrian. The exact timing of the train's passage through these areas is not specified, but it is anticipated to occur during the evening hours of November 22 or the early morning of November 23.

While there are no official stops in Metro Detroit, residents have traditionally gathered at various points along the route to catch a glimpse of the illuminated train. One popular viewing location has been the vacant lot adjacent to Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park. Spectators are reminded to maintain a safe distance of at least 50 feet from the tracks and to exercise caution, as freight trains may be operating on the same lines.

The CPKC Holiday Train is more than just a visual spectacle; it serves a vital role in supporting local food banks. Since its inception in 1999, the program has raised over $26 million and collected more than 5.4 million pounds of food for communities across North America. Attendees are encouraged to contribute by bringing non-perishable food items or making monetary donations to support those in need during the holiday season.

For those interested in experiencing the full festivities, including live performances by Smash Mouth and JJ Wilde, the Windsor stop offers an opportunity to enjoy the entertainment up close. Remember to bring a donation to support the local food bank and embrace the spirit of giving that defines the Holiday Train's mission.

As the CPKC Holiday Train rolls through Metro Detroit, it brings with it a message of hope and community spirit, reminding us all of the importance of coming together to support one another during the holiday season.
