Popular Convenience Chain Opens Fourth Michigan Store Amid Rapid Growth |
Sheetz, the renowned convenience store and gas station chain, has officially opened its fourth Michigan location in Warren, marking a significant milestone in its aggressive expansion across the Metro Detroit area.
The new store, situated at 31925 Van Dyke Avenue, welcomed customers on Tuesday morning. The grand opening attracted a crowd of eager patrons, many of whom have been anticipating the arrival of Sheetz in their community.
âItâs an awesome looking building,â remarked Al Barber of Sterling Heights. âGood competition.â
Approximately 20 people were waiting outside the store when it opened at 8 a.m. Various prizes were given away, and customers visiting for the grand opening received free coffee and soda throughout the day.
The site, previously home to a bowling alley and nightclub along Van Dyke Avenue south of 14 Mile Road, underwent significant redevelopment to accommodate the new Sheetz store.
âOpening our first store in Warren is especially meaningful for Sheetz. As Michiganâs third-largest city and a cornerstone of the global automotive industry, Warren represents the kind of hardworking, innovative community weâre proud to serve,â said Nick Ruffner, public affairs manager of Sheetz. âWeâre grateful to the local leaders and residents who welcomed us, and weâre thrilled to be part of a city that has helped shape Michiganâs economic engine for generations.â
In a demonstration of community commitment, Sheetz executives announced donations of $2,500 each to the Warren Police and Fire Benevolent Association, Special Olympics Michigan, and Forgotten Harvest during the grand opening event.
The new store employs approximately 30 workers and offers a range of amenities, including made-to-order food, beverages, and fuel services.
Sheetz's expansion into Michigan began with its first store opening in Romulus in 2024. Subsequent locations have been established in New Baltimore and a second in Romulus. The company has ambitious plans to open 50 to 60 locations and invest $500 million across southeast Michigan over the next five to six years. Construction is currently underway for new stores in Eastpointe, Fraser, Novi, Roseville, and Taylor, with a store also planned in East Lansing.
As Sheetz continues its rapid growth in the region, the Warren location stands as a testament to the company's commitment to serving the communities of Metro Detroit.
