Brighton High School's Violet Von Debuts 'Half Hidden from the Eye' |
Violet Von, a senior at Brighton High School, is poised to make her mark on the music scene with the release of her debut EP, 'Half Hidden from the Eye', available on all streaming platforms starting at midnight on Friday, October 24.
This six-track collection highlights Von's unique vocal style, heartfelt songwriting, and a sound that seamlessly blends genres.
Three singles from the EP have already been released and are accessible on all major platforms.
Fans can connect with Von's music and follow her journey through her social media channels.
To celebrate the release, a party is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, at Label Kitchen + Bar, located at 125 E. Grand River Ave. in Brighton.
Von has been deeply involved in the Brighton Area Schools choir program from a young age, most recently serving as section leader in Phil Johnson's choir and as music leader of the a cappella group Chicapella.
Since her freshman year, she has taken private vocal lessons with Sally Mikat at Mikat Music Studios, performed in numerous BHS plays and musicals, and earned accolades at NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) and State Solo and Ensemble competitions.
Starting her songwriting journey early, Von has honed her craft by performing at open mic nights, charity events, and art galleries, often accompanied by fellow BHS student Mason Gay on guitar.
Interestingly, Violet and Mason grew up across the street from each other, and the songs on the EP trace their relationship from infatuation to heartbreak and first love.
Drawing inspiration from artists like Billie Eilish, Lizzy McAlpine, Conan Gray, and Laufey, Von creates songs that resonate with genuine emotion.
Her sound fuses classical vocal training with modern pop sensibilities, and her improvisation skills on the keyboard, combined with introspective lyrics, reflect a maturity beyond her 17 years.
Beyond music, Von embraces creativity in various forms, including fashion styling, video production, and visual art, aiming to inspire others to explore their passions and express themselves fearlessly.
'Half Hidden from the Eye' was recorded at the Grammy-winning studio The Tempermill in Ferndale, produced by Erik Maluchnik, and mastered by David Feeny.
Von collaborates with her brother, student Emmy-award nominated filmmaker Verick Von Buskirk, on all her photo shoots and videos.
