ChargePoint and Dabaja Brothers Expand EV Fast Charging in Metro Detroit

ChargePoint and Dabaja Brothers Development Group have launched a new ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging site in Canton, Michigan, marking a significant step toward enhancing the region's charging infrastructure.

This initiative addresses the pressing need for accessible EV charging options in metro Detroit.

The Canton location is the first of several planned installations, with additional sites slated for Dearborn and Livonia.

Collectively, these sites will introduce over 40 new charging ports to the area.

Each station features ChargePoint Express Plus fast chargers, capable of delivering up to 500 kW per port and charging two vehicles simultaneously.

This setup ensures rapid and efficient charging for all EV models.

These stations are integrated with the new ChargePoint Platform, providing real-time performance monitoring, dynamic pricing adjustments, and proactive issue resolution to maintain optimal functionality.

Recognizing a significant gap in local EV charging infrastructure, Yousef Dabaja, owner and operator at Dabaja Brothers Development Group, stated, "We started this project because we saw a gap in our community—there was almost nowhere to charge an EV in Canton, and a similar lack of charging across metro Detroit."

Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint, emphasized the broader impact of this collaboration, noting, "This initiative will rapidly infill the 'fast charging deserts' across the Detroit area, allowing drivers to quickly recharge their vehicles when and where they need to."

By strategically placing these charging stations at retail and commercial properties, the partnership aims to integrate EV charging into daily routines, enabling drivers to charge their vehicles while shopping, dining, or visiting local attractions.

This development is a significant step toward supporting the growing adoption of electric vehicles in metro Detroit, providing the necessary infrastructure to meet increasing demand.
