Homegrown rapper transforms local gas station into a community celebration |
Detroit's own Big Sean turned a BP gas station on the city's east side into a vibrant community event on Friday, offering $25,000 in free gas to residents.
"We're giving away a lot of gas, making some impact down here," said Big Sean. "This is my roots right here. I used to come here every Friday and rap at the radio station! If you know, you know," he added with a grin, playfully taking over the Local 4 microphone.
The event, held at the BP station on East Jefferson near Chene, was more than just a gas giveaway. It featured hot meals, turkeys, and even free cars, creating a festive atmosphere that resonated throughout the neighborhood.
Joining Big Sean was Zachery Dereniowski, also known as MD Motivator, a Canadian influencer renowned for his philanthropic efforts and viral TikTok moments. Together, they aimed to make a tangible difference in the community.
"We got over 500 cars giving away gas, gave away a couple carsâchanged some lives, impacted some people, but it's the least we could do," Big Sean remarked.
Residents expressed heartfelt gratitude. One woman exclaimed, "God bless you, thank you," as she received free gas. Another shouted across the pumps, "Thank you!!"
Big Sean's deep connection to Detroit was evident throughout the event. "God bless Detroit, the greatest city to ever be, and it ever will be. I promise that," he declared.
This generous act is part of Big Sean's ongoing commitment to giving back to his hometown, reinforcing the bond between the artist and the city that shaped him. |
