A Fall Weekend Stroll Through Detroit’s New Riverfront Park

Experience the Grand Opening of Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park and Detroit Harvest Fest

Detroit's riverfront is set to unveil its latest gem, the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park, on October 25 and 26, 2025.

This 22-acre park, located along the west riverfront, promises a weekend brimming with activities for all ages.

The grand opening coincides with the annual Detroit Harvest Fest, which will now be hosted within the new park.

Attendees can look forward to live entertainment, fall-themed activities, and a diverse selection of food trucks.

One of the park's standout features is the Delta Dental Play Garden, a five-acre playground adorned with whimsical animal structures imported from Denmark, including a 20-foot bear slide and a 26-foot otter.

Children can also enjoy an interactive water play area within this space.

For sports enthusiasts, the William Davidson Sport House offers two full-sized basketball courts under a covered pavilion, ensuring year-round play.

Nature lovers will appreciate the Huron-Clinton Metroparks Water Garden, a 2.5-acre area designed for educational nature programming, featuring river water pumped into a pond-like setting.

The DTE Foundation Summit provides a lush green lawn ideal for picnics, concerts, and outdoor movie nights, all with scenic views of the Detroit River.

In addition to these attractions, the park's design emphasizes accessibility and community engagement.

Over 900 trees have been planted, and winding paths lead visitors through various sections, each offering unique experiences.

Local artist Sydney James has contributed a mural that adds a vibrant touch to the landscape.

The opening weekend is presented by the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy and the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation.

Free parking is available at the Bagley Mobility Hub and the Assembly Parking Garage, with shuttles transporting guests to and from the park.

As autumn paints Detroit in hues of gold and crimson, a stroll through the new Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park offers a perfect way to embrace the season.

Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or community connection, this park is poised to become a cherished destination for residents and visitors alike.
